Maths

Today for maths I worked with my two friends ( Alo and Aja ) to work out some of our questions that we hadn't finished.  One of the questions that we helped each other to work out was " Paul has five different ways to get to school from his house. The length of each way is different the length of all the ways to school are 0.6 , 1.2, 0.9,
1.3, 0.3, 0.6 and 0.7 " .

The first thing that we did was plus 0.6 and 0.9 we decided to start with these two numbers randomly. 0.6 + 0.9 = 1.5 + 1.2 = 2.7 + 0.6 = 3.3 + 1.3 = 4.6 + 0.3 = 4.9 + 0.7 = 5.6 . This is how we solved " how far does paul travel within a week. We choose to answer the question like this because it was the easiest way for us to understand the problem and the easiest way for us to answer the question / problem. Something that I think we should do next time try and see how many different ways we can get the same answer just to try and double check that we got the right answer.

Maths Question

Today for maths me and my friends all got different answer on one of our questions. The question was  " 6.4 + 8.7 = " Me and my friends all got different answers someone got 2.5 and someone else got another answer. In the end we all ended up getting the same answer we ended up getting 15.1 and this is how we got our answer.

We added up all the tenths  in the numbers 8.7 and 6.4 which would be .7 and .4 . We added up these two numbers because we were all trying different ways to get the same answer. The answer to .7 + .4 = 1.1 and then we moved onto adding up the whole numbers which were 8. and 6. We took away one whole from eight and added it to the 6 wich made seven. And then we had 7 and 7 left so we added them up wich made fourteen and 14. + 1.1 = 15.1. Something that I got from doing this question was to work with other people and come together to try and get an answer that we all agree on.

E-asttle Maths

This Morning we did a E-asttle Maths test to show our teachers where we are at in Maths and to show what we already know. At the beginning of the test there were alot of pretty easy questions to answer, I'd say questions one to twelve were pretty easy to answer but then from there on out it started to get a whole lot harder. One question that I found pretty easy was the very first question that we had to answer I can't remember what it was I just know that I found it very easy to answer. A question that I found very challenging to answer was " Y= 2x ". I found this question very challenging to answer because I didn't know how Y equalled 2x, but after about a good ten minutes of trying to get an answer I ended up choosing an answer that looked right to me.

Something that I found out by taking this test was that I need to work on my fractions and percentages because when it came to the questions that involved these things I got very stuck and it took me a lot of time to try and think of an answer. I think that one way  I can work on improving on these two things is by trying to earn them not just inside of school hours but outside of school hours, I could get help by my friends, family and Teachers.
              

Algebra T3W3

Hi today for maths we have solved an algebra problem to calculate how much money would be spent and earnt by two twins.Tom started with $20 and spends $2 every day for a week and he twin sister tia started her job on the same week on monday she earns $2.50 a day.I used a table try and help me calculate the day that tia would over lap tom with money.We made links to statistics and choose a line graph to show our thinking.You can see clearly that by Friday,Tioa had made more money than tom.Well we were working on this some people got a bit stuck and thought that Tom had started with $18 on Monday and not with twenty everyone got a bit stuck because other people had other answers but when we made a graph it shows that he started with $20 on Monday and not $18 so in the end everyone had come to and answer they all agreed on.I really liked it when everyone one was trying to get the right answer people were working together and trying to help each other like our whakatauki from yesterday Ma pango,ma whero ka oti te mahi which means if people work together they will get the job done.

Number of the week T1W3

Hi today in class for maths we had a revision to help us remember some of the tasks from last year.The activet that we did was called number of the week in this task we had to get a number online and then when had to complete a presintaion.In the presitaion we had to  identify if it was a odd or even number.Next we had to write in words after that we all had to word questions involving the number.

Learning about ratio's

Today me and my class were learning about ratio's and how to make it easy for us to understand them.During our lesson we were practicing them one of the questions that we had were at the zoo if there were 8 monkeys for every 3 gorilla's.If there were twenty gorilla's how many monkeys would there be.

Perimeter and Area.

Hi today for maths I did an  DLO on Perimeter and Area like if you were going to run the length of the field you would run the Perimeter and if you were counting steps of the field you would do the area of the field.
